The Division of General and Thoracic Surgery treats hundreds of children each year with both rare and common conditions. Some of these problems are life threatening. All can alter a child's quality of life. Some of our young patients need a lifetime of care.
At Children's we believe that by using all available resources and the most advanced techniques, we can often help children with problems that may seem untreatable.
We feel very fortunate to have a medical facility as sophisticated as Children's Hospital in our region. We can say that without Children's, our son would not be with us today. Thank you, Children's!

To do this, we develop and use innovative treatments and invest our resources in needed research and technologies that show promise.
Endowments allow Children's to attract and retain the best and brightest doctors. They provide seed money that helps our doctors enhance their clinical work and fund new research projects. They support the education of surgical fellows.
Please visit the Research and Advances page to learn more about the important research happening within the Division of General and Thoracic Surgery.
As our region grows and more children require surgical evaluation and care, there is a pressing need for general surgery outreach clinics in the north and south Puget Sound cities of Everett and Federal Way. At our main campus in Seattle, we need two more operating suites to accommodate the demand for minimally invasive surgery.
